A user can see the community but cannot perform an action
Resolve Clan Labs community permission, target-level, ownership, entitlement, and external safety checks.
Last updatedSymptom
The community is visible, but a control is hidden or disabled, or Discord shows Warning - Insufficient Permission or You must be [level]+.
Most likely causes
- Your effective community level is below that action’s requirement.
- The target is an officer and uses the higher officer-action requirement.
- The action is reserved for the Discord server owner (SuperOwner).
- The feature is blocked by plan, trial, or subscription state.
- Discord or Roblox rejects an external part of the action.
- Your permission changed and the current session is stale.
Diagnostic checks
- Record the action, target, and exact message.
- Ask an Owner to inspect that action in Community Permissions.
- Compare your assigned level with the displayed minimum.
- Check whether the target is treated as member-level or officer-level.
- Confirm plan, trial, and subscription status.
- For owner-only controls, verify Discord server ownership.
Resolution
An Owner should grant the smallest community level or lower only the relevant action requirement after reviewing the risk. For SuperOwner controls, the Discord server owner must perform the action. Correct a plan, subscription, Discord, or Roblox problem when the permission level already passes.
Do not share an Owner account or API key to work around the check.
When to retry
Sign out and back in or refresh after a confirmed permission or ownership change. Retry only after the blocking plan or external condition is corrected.
