Configure verification
Set verified roles, automatic nicknames, and the Clan Labs Roblox account-linking prompt.
Last updatedWhat this does
Verification links a Discord user to one or more Roblox accounts. Each community can use the selected account to manage Discord roles, nicknames, and member records.
Prerequisites
- Clan Labs is installed in the Discord server.
- The community is active.
- The bot role is above the Verified, Unverified, Bypass, and rank roles it will manage.
- You meet the community’s Settings permission requirement.
Setup steps
- Open Settings → Verification.
- Under Automation, choose whether to Automatically manage roles and Automatically update nicknames.
- Select the Verified role, Unverified role, and optional Bypass role. Clan Labs only lists roles the bot can assign.
- Build the nickname format. Supported variables shown by Clan Labs include Roblox name, display name and ID; Discord name and ID; rank name, prefix and ID; and group experience.
- Review the sample. Discord truncates the final nickname to 32 characters.
- Optionally enable Send the account-linking guide when a member joins.
- Choose Direct message for a message to each joiner, or a text channel for one standing shared panel.
- Save the settings.
- For a channel destination, choose Post panel after saving.
Expected result
Members can run /verify, follow Login to Dashboard to add a Roblox account, and select which verified account applies to this community. /update applies the configured roles and nickname.
Verify that it works
- Use a non-owner test member.
- Run
/verifyand select or add an account. - Run
/update. - Confirm the result says Auto Roles: Success and Auto Nickname: Success, or Disabled for intentionally disabled settings.
- Confirm the panel status says a panel is currently posted when using a channel.
Common errors
- Warning - Account not found — choose an account still present in the user’s verified accounts.
- Warning - Already verified — that account is already selected for this community.
- Error - Unexpected error ... binding your Roblox account — retry once; then check for a temporary service issue.
- Auto Roles: Failed or Failed Roles — check Manage Roles and role hierarchy.
- Auto Nickname: Failed — check Manage Nicknames and member hierarchy.
- The panel was deleted or its channel no longer exists — select a current channel and post a new panel.
Security practices
- Use OAuth sign-in; never ask members for Roblox passwords or cookies.
- Keep verification roles free of administrative privileges.
- Use a Bypass role only for a deliberate exception process.
- Test the nickname template with long names before broad rollout.
