Quick start

Set up a Clan Labs main community from Discord sign-in through Open Cloud and first verification.

Last updated 3 September 2026

This is the shortest supported path to a working main community. You do not need to configure every feature before members begin verifying.

Before you begin

Make sure you are the Discord server owner, you can sign in with the Roblox account that owns the target community, and you have an eligible plan option. Keep Discord, the dashboard, and Roblox Creator Hub available in separate tabs.

1. Sign in to the dashboard

Open the Clan Labs dashboard and sign in with Discord. Complete Roblox verification when prompted. If your Discord authorisation is old, the dashboard may ask you to reconnect before it can refresh your server list.

2. Add the Clan Labs bot

Use the official bot invitation from the website, dashboard setup flow, or /invite. Select the server you own and approve the requested permissions.

Move the Clan Labs role above every community role it needs to manage. Keep it below owner-only or administrative roles that Clan Labs should never assign.

Bot installation does not block setup

Clan Labs lets you connect the community first and add the bot later. Commands, automated Discord roles, nicknames, and delivered messages do not work until the bot is installed.

3. Run /setup

In the Discord server, run /setup. Only the Discord server owner can continue. Select Set up in dashboard to open /communities?modal=setup-community.

If you started in the dashboard instead, open Communities and choose Set up community.

4. Choose Main Community

Select Main Community, then choose the Discord server. A server marked Already connected or Owner access required cannot be selected.

Choose the target Roblox community. Clan Labs only enables an eligible, unconfigured community associated with the active verified Roblox account.

5. Choose the plan

Select an eligible existing subscription or use the plan comparison offered by setup. Review the current features, billing schedule, and price in the dashboard.

Binding a subscription applies a 30-day lock before it can move to another community. Confirm you selected the correct Roblox community before continuing.

6. Review and create

The review screen shows the target Roblox community, Discord server, setup account, and plan. Confirm those details, then create the community.

Open management when the success screen appears. If the bot is installed but the success screen says activation is pending, allow up to five minutes before retrying a command.

7. Connect Roblox Open Cloud

Go to Settings → Roblox Cloud → Credential instructions. In Roblox Creator Hub:

  1. create a dedicated User API Key;
  2. select the connected Roblox community;
  3. add the groups API system;
  4. enable group:read and group:write;
  5. do not restrict the key to your own IP address; and
  6. generate the secret, paste it once into Clan Labs, and select Save credential.

The status should change to Configured with a validation or update time.

8. Verify the first member workflow

Run /verify and follow Login to Dashboard if the Discord account has no verified Roblox account yet. Select the account for this community, then run /update for yourself.

A healthy result reports Auto Roles: Success and Auto Nickname: Success, or Disabled for either feature you have not enabled.

Recommended first configuration

Configure community permissions before delegating staff access. Then set up verification, ranks and binds, and audit-log delivery.

If any step fails, use the troubleshooting overview and start with the symptom shown in Discord or the dashboard.
