Configure experience

Name the experience system, set bonuses and rank thresholds, and verify Clan Labs progression.

Last updated 3 September 2026

What this does

Experience tracks member progression inside a Clan Labs community. Staff can award, remove, or set experience; ranks can use configured thresholds; and members can view supported leaderboards and profiles.

Prerequisites

  • Ranks are configured in the intended order.
  • Staff permission requirements for experience changes are reviewed.
  • The plan includes the experience features you intend to use.
  • Discord role and Roblox rank automation prerequisites are ready if progression should change them.

Setup steps

  1. Open Settings → Experience.
  2. Set the member-facing name used for the experience system.
  3. Configure the primary-community and Discord boost bonuses when they apply to your community policy.
  4. Save the settings.
  5. Open Manage → Ranks and set the progression thresholds for each automated rank.
  6. Confirm whether the plan includes automatic rank progression before relying on it.
  7. Review the permission requirements for ordinary experience changes and direct set operations.

Expected result

The configured name and values appear in member profiles and experience commands. Authorised staff can use the configured /xp command name to add, remove, or set experience, and eligible automatic progression follows the rank thresholds.

Verify that it works

  1. Record a test member’s current experience and rank.
  2. Award a small value.
  3. Confirm the profile and leaderboard update.
  4. If the threshold is crossed, confirm the intended rank and Discord role behavior.
  5. Review the audit entry.

Common errors

  • The command is unavailable — check the current plan, trial, command configuration, and disabled channel list.
  • A staff member cannot set experience — direct set operations have a higher default requirement than ordinary award operations.
  • Experience changes but rank does not — review thresholds, automatic progression entitlement, Open Cloud, and rank hierarchy.
  • Progression is frozen — an active suspension can block experience bonuses or rank progression.

Security practices

  • Limit direct set access; it can bypass the normal progression history.
  • Use small test values and keep a record of the expected result.
  • Avoid overlapping or decreasing rank thresholds.
  • Investigate unexpected bulk changes in the audit log.

Next, configure quotas or learn the experience and quota workflow.
