Configure quotas

Schedule recurring quota checks, set award limits, and choose a Discord log channel in Clan Labs.

Last updated 3 September 2026

What this does

Quotas track recurring community requirements with quota points. Clan Labs can schedule checks, publish operational results to Discord, and limit how many points different actor types can award.

Prerequisites

  • The community’s plan includes quota tracking.
  • The logging channel exists and Clan Labs can view and send messages in it.
  • Staff quota permission requirements are configured.
  • You know the community’s deadline interval and IANA time zone.

Setup steps

  1. Open Settings → Quota.
  2. Turn on Enable quota checks.
  3. Set Interval in days from 1 to 365.
  4. Enter an IANA time zone such as Australia/Brisbane; do not use an informal abbreviation such as AEST.
  5. Select the Logging channel.
  6. Set award limits for API, HICOM, Supervisor, and Officer actors.
  7. Save the settings.
  8. Review event types if events should award quota points to hosts, co-hosts, or attendees.

Expected result

The quota page shows the feature enabled and records the last check time. Authorised staff can award, remove, or set quota points within the configured limits, and scheduled results publish to the selected Discord channel.

Verify that it works

Award a small test value to a non-owner member. Confirm the member profile changes, the relevant Discord result is delivered, and an audit entry records the action. Remove the test points afterward if they should not count.

Common errors

  • Quota navigation or commands are unavailable — check plan and trial access.
  • The schedule runs at an unexpected local time — use a valid IANA zone and review daylight-saving behavior.
  • A staff award is rejected — check the configured action requirement and the award limit for that level.
  • No Discord result appears — verify the stored channel still exists and the bot can send there.
  • API quota writes return 403 — enable the API and grant members.quota.write.

Security practices

  • Keep lower-level award limits narrow.
  • Reserve direct set access for trusted staff.
  • Use the audit log to investigate corrections or unusually large awards.
  • Test schedule and channel changes before a live deadline.

Next, configure events or read Experience and quotas.
